To coincide with the opening of the Simpsons movie on July 27th, it has been reported that 11 7-Elevens across the country will be retrofitted to look like Kwik-E-Marts. And that's not all. You'll be able to buy actual Buzz Cola, Krusty O's cereal, and other Simpson food paraphanaleia! How awesome is this! Hopefully, there will be one within driving distance of Baltimore.
please!

And I Quote
The following statement was just spoken to me at the office by my co-worker:
"Well, you know it was the Turks who started the whole bad fornication thing"
(me looking puzzled)
"You know, anal. It wasn't the Greeks. It was the Turks."
My office is hilarious.
(I am also a liberal in a sea of conservatives)

Finally
I finally made it back from the mid-west last night, after being almost stranded in St. Louis for the weekend because of the lovely suprise ice storm in Baltimore. Luckily, there were seats available on the late night flight to Chicago, so I spent St. Patrick's Day with brunch at the Bongo Room, a few pints of Guiness at the Gingerman, dinner at the Greek Islands, and visiting with some of my favorite friends.
Thanks to Louella for hosting me at such a late notice and for the super early ride to the airport this morning!

Stuck in the Midwest
Hello readers!
I am being held hostage in the midwest. Tonight, I'm in Effingham, Illinois. So far, the highlight of my day has been flipping off a "pregnancy crisis center" with fetus development models in the window.
Yes, I know it's their right to display these things in the window. I also know it's my right to give them the finger.
I did, however, visit the largest truck stop in the world yesterday. It rules.
More later...

New Modest Mouse Record
The new Modest Mouse record, "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" hits stores on March 20th. I have heard a few songs off this record and they are nothing short of stunning and consise rock and roll. FINALLY, a record to get excited about.
Here a preview here.

Found!
I found the dark chocolate mini eggs at Giant this afternoon! They are really good. You should go buy some.
On the Needles
This week, I'm working on this turtle from the winter issue of knitty for my friends' baby shower. After she got her first sonogram (or ultrasound, whatever it's called), she mentioned her future kid kinda looked like a sea turtle. Hence, the turtle theme. So far, I have the body finished and one leg.
I also finished this lovely shawl for my Grandmother's 90th birthday in a few weeks. It was knit in blue. I haven't taken pics of it yet, but here's a pic from the Interweave Knits site. The pattern can be found in their current issue.
I also finished the back panel of my cabled cardigan that I will hopefully finish before next winter.
Socks, Part 2
I have to make these socks
In the current issue of knitty there's a pattern for these socks.
I have to make them.
I wonder if I'll only make one. probably.

Food Memories
I have been reading some food blogs today, and one of them talked about food memories. It reminded me of a funny food memory of my own.
One of my favorite dinners when I was little was the Hamburger Helper with the egg noodles and the cream sauce. I loved the smell of it. The sauce was such an awesome nondescript flavor and really complimented the meat and the egg noodles.
This happened to also be one of my husband's favorite childhood meals. So, a few months ago, we decided to buy a box and have it for dinner. The disgusting stench of the processed flavor powder permeated the apartment and it tasted so awful, we thought they'd changed the formula.
Just a reminder that somethings from childhood, should stay there.

Easter Candy
When I was a little girl, we would leave our slippers by our bed for the easter bunny. When we woke, there were little tufts of easter grass and plastic eggs in our slippers.
I love Easter Candy. Here are some of my favorites:
Of course, it wouldn't be easter without Peeps. I know you can get them other times of the year now, but I'm a purist when it comes to these lovely marshmellow gems. I don't understand people when they tell me they don't like Peeps.
Another favorite are Cadbury Mini Eggs. They have this awesome, jordan almond-like shell and a great tasting milk chocolate center. I also really love the Cadbury dairy milk caramel bars. But, you can only find them in England, or in American stores that sell English candy bars.
Finally, there's the cheap bubble gum in the egg cartons. The flavor lasts all of five seconds, but they look so pretty in an Easter basket.
Yes, I am almost 30, and still get Easter baskets from my Mom.

Hilarious Car Insurance Commerical
My friend Louella and I were talking about funny local commercials one night over some beers. I mentioned the GEBCO dancers, and she told me about these Eagle insurance commericals.
After getting off my ass and searching all of five seconds for it this morning, I think I found it.
For your viewing enjoyment.
