Knitting Tags
When I visited Seattle a few months ago, I noticed knitting tags in a few places. The tags are usually little scarves for trees, telephone poles, or road signs that a secret band of knitters make and then sew around said objects. I think they're super cute, and an interesting take on grafitti. This one was by far the most extravagant as it covered most of a monorail post.

Excitements and Disappointments
This weekend was a mix of excitements and disappointments. The first excitement occurred on Friday night when we went to Fogo de Chao for dinner. I have never been around so many different cuts of meat at once. I think I set a new record for a former vegetarian eating meat on Friday. I even ate rare meat, which I have never done before, and it was really yummy. The meal was pricey, but worth every penny.
Then, of course, came the disappointment of the year. The Ravens lost to the Colts even though they didn't let he-who-will-not-be-named score a touchdown! The offense was completely asleep for most of the game. I could feel my heart breaking with each passing quarter. Worse is that the AFC Championship game will be the Colts and the Patriots. Two teams I'm incredibly sick and tired of hearing about, or seeing in the Superbowl. Sure, Tom Brady is cute, but lose already!
Lastly, I went to see Inland Empire last night, and got to see David Lynch in person. While I didn't get to ask him about the significance of food in Twin Peaks, it was an awesome experience. He has such a cool voice! The movie itself was pure David Lynch. I'm going to need some time to digest it and read about it a little more. But, I recommend going to see it. It's currently playing at the AFI Silver Theater in Silver Spring.

Dreamgirls
I had off on Monday, and went to see the movie, Dreamgirls at the Senator. As a film, it wasn't all that great. As a musical movie, it was entertaining. Everyone has been talking about Jennifer Hudson, and for good reason. People in the audience were cheering and clapping after her songs. Like at a concert. Her voice is one of the strongest, and most amazing voices I've ever heard.
Apparently, she was on American Idol. I don't watch this show as I think it perpetuates this total shit pop "music" that has taken over America. And now, knowing that this person didn't win American Idol, I understand why I don't watch it.
As if I needed another reason.

The Big Game
Most people think that the Superbowl is the biggest game of the year. But, this year, the biggest game for Ravens fans will take place on Saturday. The "Colts" return to Baltimore, hopefully to get taken down and out of the playoffs for yet another year.
I was born in Baltimore, and lived there until I was 15. I grew up with sports. My favorite memories as a child with my family are of going to Orioles games at Memorial Stadium. Why are they not also of watching football games at Memorial Stadium?
Well, when I was seven, also known as the year 1984, he-who-shall-not-be-named moved the team's possessions and trophies onto Mayflower trucks in the middle of a snowy evening. Thus, taking with him the hopes and dreams of little football fans everywhere.
My family were huge Baltimore Colts fans. We had season tickets, and I love the stories of my next-door neighbor sneaking a flask into the "largest outdoor insane asylum". I used to cuss at Mayflower trucks whenever we saw them on the road, and I still do. When my Aunt Maggie was born, my Grandpa was at home watching "The Greatest Game Ever Played". In his defense, it was their 6th child, and my Grandma pretty much had childbirth down to a science by then.
I once met Johnny Unitas in the parking lot at the Maryland State Fair. He was really nice. Did you know that he refused to recognize the Indianapolis "Colts" as a franchise? I think that's pretty cool.
This weekend, the Ravens will win. Because they have to. For the fans.

Why?
Will someone please tell me why a band would even think to remake the song "Life is a Highway"? It was terrible when it first came out in the early 90's. It's the most downloaded country song on itunes. WHY? And why does someone like it so much that they gave it to my spinning instructor for her new "class cd"? Now I have to hear it when I'm in exercise class. As if 45 minutes of cycling weren't torture enough.
Please, America. Get some damn taste in music already. Thank you.

Knitting Update
It's winter time here in Maryland, which means I have about 50 knitting projects lined up for myself. First I'm going to finish the second mitten for my friend. I delievered the hat and the first one this weekend. Then, I'm going to start on this hat for myself. I figured it's about time I made something for me. Then, I'm going to begin this awesome cabled cardigan, also for myself.
Since I know about 20 people who are having babies (this is no joke, I really do know that many), there is no way they will all get baby blankets and sweaters. I found this on knitty, and will be making a bunch of them. They're so cute!
So, that's what will be on the needles for the next few months. I also still have to finish a few pairs of armwarmers, but I've made about 10 of them, so I'm taking a little break from them. So far, they've been well received.
Hope everyone is having a great 2007 thus far!

In Other David Lynch News
Season two of Twin Peaks is finally coming to DVD! It will be released on April 10th.
If you haven't watched the show, shame on you. You can buy the pilot and the first season on DVD. For some reason, the pilot is not included on any of the American releases of the show, be it DVD or VHS. I recommend turning off the pilot during the final two minutes, as it sort of gives away an important ending, since it is the European version.
